Being a children's minister, my girls get the "privilege" of doing all of the behind the scenes things that have to happen to get things done. For instance, we spent the entire day today shopping for chidren's camp. The girls did really well....ummm....I guess I should say the 3 oldest girls did really well and S only had a few meltdowns! We tried to make it fun by throwing in some treats after almost every store and by putting dance music in and singing at the top of our lungs in the church van! We also decided to treat ourselves to Chinese for lunch. Not just Chinese, but the BIG Chinese buffet. Y-U-M! We all love Chinese and particularly like buffet. A is our most adventurous eater. She will pretty much try anything and usually she likes it. She loves veggies, mushrooms, seafood, just about anything. She LOVES shrimp, or "strimp" as she calls it. She gets strimp just about anytime she can, so when we got to the restaurant today, she was very excited about strimp. She started out with some egg drop soup and seafood soup mixed together. She loved it. About 3 times a week she asks if she likes crab and then proceeds to dream about going out to eat and ordering crab....why crab? Well, I try not to ask why anymore with her! So.....back to her seafood soup......she was really enjoying the pieces of seafood in her soup. She looked at me and wrinkled her little forehead right between her eyes and says, "Is this strimp?" "No," I say. "It is crab". Oh my goodness, her face lit up like a little girl who walked in on Christmas day and saw millions of presents! She was thrilled that she ate crab and really did like it! Well, that was just the appetizer....I then take her up to get her food. Like I said, she will try just about anything....even the little tiny octopuses. Yes....I said octopus! There are little whole octopus. They look like tarantulas. She wants to try it. Of course she wants to try it! I know if I don't let her try it, she will obsess about it and talk about it every day. So I get it, finish filling her plate, and walk back to the table before and quietly announce to the table, "No one say anything about her food please!" Of course the other 3 sisters have huge eyes when they see what is on her plate, and Autumn just rolled her eyes. A asks, "are they real? Did they used to be alive? Are they babies?" yes....I am thinking....this is the girl who loves on dead animals (will post those stories later) hoping they will come back to life, I really don't think she will eat this thing. After carefully examining it, asking tons of questions, and poking around on it, she bites its little head off. Yes she did. While eating it, she just closed her eyes...for a long time. "What are you doing A?" She replies, " I am imaging this little guy come out of the egg, then get catched and killed with a gun so I can eat it." I love this girl!
